  • FAQ: If you have 30 sites in 8 different niches, do you use 1 account to market all sites via social media or should you set up separate accounts for each niche? My idea is to use separate accounts for social bookmarking and one account for social news. What do you think?

Answer: Part of what you’re trying to do with the social bookmarking is build a persona. Think of it as branding yourself over time.

Therefore it makes sense to do it using the same account if your niches are topically related, you’ll get more “followers” that way. But that said, there’s two even bigger benefits to staying within related categories…

  • FAQ: I have been following your transition away from static html websites to Semiologic Pro driven blogs. I have been trying to implement a similar strategy with my own sites.

I noticed that you integrate static html pages along with a blog. I also noticed that your permalink setting is not what would be considered “ideal” as far as SEO is concerned.

Why you didn’t implement a more SEO friendly permalink structure on your site? What negative impact do you think it has on rankings? (It looks like your blog still ranks very well though.)

Answer: Yes, my Internet Marketing Secrets blog ranks well. So do many of its individual posts. I ran some tests using the Wordpress default ?/123 url and the popular long format /date/keyword1-keyword2 etc etc etc in the url and here’s what I found out…

  • FAQ: I have a site that was indexed by Google. A search using the site: command shows 66 pages indexed. So Google knows the pages are there, and the cache is up to date, but when searching for text strings found on the page, none of the pages show up in the SERPs.

Is this what you would expect if the pages were in the Supplemental index? Or do you have any other idea what might be going on?

Answer: Yes, your site is in the supplemental index. 49 pages of it to be exact. Here’s how I know that…

  • FAQ: Could your give us your recipe for SEO today in 2009? I have read a fair amount on how to rank organically, but a lot of the material is dated and not relevant. Google must have changed what they think is important in recent years.

  • FAQ: Is the trend for training and learning really toward video without text? I tend to avoid participatory sessions, webinars etc, but I realize that probably puts me in a minority group.

My preferred learning mode is reading. While visual material can be high impact, it usually takes a lot longer to internalize. It’s worse if I have to download big Flash or QuickTime files. What do you think is the best method for learning?

Answer: Text, audio and video each have their place when it comes to learning. They are each superior in their own way, depending on the kind of information that’s being delivered.

But when it comes to learning concepts and ideas, one delivery method has been clinically proven to blow away the rest…

  • FAQ: How many keywords can my website be known for? In other words, when it comes to organic SEO, how many keyword phrases should I optimize for?

  • The work of Dr. Robert Cialdini has compiled significant scientific evidence as to what makes people say yes. It’s about getting people to comply, to get them to do what you want, rather than just think about you in a positive way.

Getting these concepts in the right order can double or triple your responses and orders in most cases. Get them out of order and you’ll lose 50 to 60% of all your profits.
