It’s crazy! Landing pages circa 2001 are back. The search engines thought they killed them, but thanks to the ad networks, landing pages have been resurrected. So are long lost favorites like, direct linking, pop ups, exit pops, cheap clicks, micro sites… they’re all alive and well here.
There are dozens of ad networks available. Some follow the PPC model of pay per click. Others are CPM, where you bid per 1,000 impressions of your ad. Compared to the search engines ads, these are cheap clicks.
You can direct link from the ad to a CPA (cost per action) affiliate offer. This is what the PPC Ninja teaches in his Traffic Dojo course. You can get paid several dollars by persuading someone to fill out a couple of fields on a form.
If you want to go a step further, you can put an interstitial, or landing page, between the ad and the offer. On the search engines you can’t do that anymore. You can’t direct link either. With the ad networks you can. Most of them don’t care if you direct link, or use landing pages.
What I discovered is, when I set up a landing page and “warm up” the visitor, sales go up by 20%, over sending them direct to the offer. It’s truly amazing. I dusted off an old landing page from 2001, directed some traffic to it from a CPM media buy, and it converted like crazy.
The other crazy thing? This traffic does not come from, or rely on the search engines… at all. You get cheap clicks from the ad networks. Some of them have millions of clicks in available inventory.
The process is simple. Buy a little PPC traffic. Test & track your ads and landing pages until they convert. Then… and ONLY then… buy more traffic… or develop a full blown web site and do the SEO for it.
Once you’ve got an offer than converts, all you need to do is a little homework into the demographics of where you want to advertise, then turn on the floodgates of traffic.
